Biosensors

Antibodies may be used to bind to an analyte and transduce a signal to a recognition element (biosensing).  However, standard methods of attachment to surfaces result in random antibody orientation.  Often, only a small proportion of surface-bound antibodies are oriented in a manner amenable to binding the antigen. By first attaching recombinant protein G to the sensor surface, you can be confident that almost all your attached antibody is oriented in a manner conducive to antigen binding.   Protein mods offers recombinant protein G that has been modified to contain thiols.  This protein G can form gold-thiol bonds, a convenient attachment chemistry that can be used for surface plasmon resonance applications, generating colloidal gold conjugates or for functionalizing gold electrodes. For a negative control, unmodified protein G (which contains no thiols) is also available.

Thiolated protein G: 250ug for $120, 1000ug for $375.

Unthiolated (control) protein G: 250ug for $50, 1000ug for $100.
