Protein A (recombinant)

Recombinant Protein A is a 48 kDa protein similar to the native version found in Staphylococcus aureus. Protein A binds to antibodies with varying degrees of affinity based on antibody isoform and host species. Since protein A binds to the Fc region, it leaves undisturbed the antigen binding site of antibodies. Protein A-agarose is widely used in antibody purification and immunoprecipitation.
