Description
Pyrene molecules can bind to surfaces such as graphene and carbon nanotubes through pi-stacking. BSA coating of such surfaces may increase biocompatibility of materials and increase wettability.
Protein Mods offers bovine serum albumin conjugated to pyrene using pyrenebutyric acid NHS-ester. Although BSA is highly soluble in water (up to 500 mg/ml) the addition of hydrophobic pyrenes decreases solubility. This may cause aggregation or even precipitation when enough conditions are met. Conditions include high concentration, acidic environment (isoelectric point of BSA is ~5) , presence of high salt, and cold.
This product is provided at 25 mg/ml in water containing 20 mM sodium phosphate at pH 7.4.
